LEEP Dual Language Academy works because of our people: parents, students, and a caring, professional staff with a passion for high-quality education in two languages. Our team hails from the United States (including Puerto Rico), Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela. We teach and operate in Spanish and English, and LEEP Academy team members also speak Chinese (Mandarin & Cantonese), German, Italian, Korean, and American Sign Language.
Roberto Gutiérrez founded Latino Educational Equity Partnerships (LEEP) in 2015 with the vision for schools like LEEP Academy. A Brooklyn resident since 2005 and the son of Mexican immigrants, Mr. Gutiérrez is a writer, filmmaker, communications leader, and former executive for leading national charter school networks. He is a graduate of St. Mary's University and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Notre Dame for advancing values of justice and peace in American broadcasting.
Michael Regnier co-founded LEEP Academy. A Brooklyn resident since 2008, Mr. Regnier previously served as Director of Policy & Research for the New York City Charter School Center and Vice President of Organizational Learning & Impact at Turnaround for Children. He graduated with honors from Princeton University and holds an M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.
Delines (De-li-néz) Rodriguez is a skilled instructional leader and dual language specialist. She previously led elementary school instruction at Hoboken Language Academy (HoLa) Charter School and taught in the KIPP network. A former Teach for America corps member and TNTP teacher trainer, Ms. Rodriguez is a Brooklyn native and a graduate of Hunter College with an MA in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.
Mayra Torres leads LEEP Academy’s operations. A native of Puerto Rico, she joined the education world from the banking industry, where she previously held management roles with Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
Dorsa Fahami is an experienced dual language educator with teaching experience in Dallas, Texas and Santiago, Chile. Ms. Fahami grew up in Southern California, as the youngest daughter of Mexican and Iranian immigrants. She is a former Teach for America corps member and graduate of Boston University with an MA in Bilingual Education from Southern Methodist University.
Edgar Sanchez is an experienced therapist and elementary school teacher. Formerly a recreational therapist and then a teacher at a leading charter network, Mr. Sanchez is a graduate of St. Joseph’s College. He earned an M.S. in Teaching Students with Disabilities from St. John’s University, where he earned the Excellence in Education Medal of Honor.
Margarita Cheng helps ensure a strong connection for all families at LEEP Academy and is a founding LEEP Academy parent herself! She was born in Panama, grew up in Venezuela, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baruch College, CUNY. Ms. Cheng has experience in television and marketing and previously worked as a parent liaison at a high school in Manhattan.
